TEST TUBE PLANTER
We have made a few of these and they are such a easy project that don't require too many materials. This one was a mothers day gift. (You can also use candles In the holes Instead of test tubes.)
Materials list:
Pre-stain and stain (If desired)
Tools we used:
Chop saw
Drill press or handheld drill
Sander
Paintbrush
I started by measuring out where the holes were going to be. We used onshape.com to map out the exact measurements to make It easier to mark on the wood with pencil.Â
After your board Is marked up It Is time to start drilling holes. We were fortunate enough to use my dad's drill press to cut our time down. It also makes It easier to make sure you are going down the same depth every time. Although not everyone has the luxury, a handheld drill should work just fine.
After all the holes are drilled I went ahead and sanded the board smooth with 80 and 220 grit sandpaper.
I decided to leave the piece a natural pine. I made sure to seal It up with some polycrylic to protect It from any water or anything else that might get spilled on It. I love that the planter can be made to any size you desire and also the test tubes be used for real or silk flowers, propagation of plants, or even some candles for special occasions.
