PLANT STAND

This DIY plant stand Is a perfect quick weekend project. It didn't take very many materials and turned out perfect. It Is easy to make custom size for you planter with the height you desire.

Materials list:

Tools we used:

I started by measuring our planter and how tall I wanted the stand.

After cutting the wood to length I measured how deep I wanted my planter to sit Inside the legs.

The next step was drilling holes for the dowels. It was a little tricky because I wanted the holes to be deep enough for the dowels to help support the weight of our 35lb concrete planter, but also not too deep to weaken the wood legs.

Once everything fit together It was time to glue everything and let It sit overnight with the clamps.

After 24 hours I started staining. Always start with a Pre-stain for the best results.

Pro tip.... do a light sanding after you glue to make sure you get all of It off. It dried clear and once I started staining I could see where there was leftover glue that the stain can't penetrate.

For the stain I used a combination of Minwax Early American and Weathered Oak. I learned about the combination from another DIYer and I loved the result. The trick Is to wipe the stain off Immediately.

24 hours later It Is time to seal everything up. I have used Minwax polycrylic for most projects and It has held up great on this plant stand. I was very happy with the results and how quick of a project It was.
